London Loves: Hampstead Heath

View from Parliament Hill

When you live in London, it’s so easy to fall into a routine of sticking to local spots and never venturing beyond your postcode. If you’re looking for things to do in London, you’re always going to be spoilt for choice but sometimes being a tourist in your own city can be a tonic in itself and spending a Saturday wandering through Hampstead Heath was exactly that.

Parliament Hill is a spot that in summer is great for a picnic and late evening drinks, on a cold December weekend we were instead treated to an early sunset and clear view across the city. From there, we wandered down into the woods and up to Kenwood House, Hugh Grant was nowhere to be seen but hot chocolates more than made up for it.

There are some other lovely spots to eat and drink in the area, with favourites being Alice House and The Magdala which both offer delicious food in cosy pubs settings.

Writing these little love letters to London reminds me how lucky I am to have such beautiful open spaces to escape to. Where are your favourite places in London? Let me know in the comments.
