It’s been a while since I’ve been away anywhere new and, as January tends to be the time of year where most of us feel uninspired, I’ve decided to dig out some past adventures and recount them. There are tonnes of places that hold a special place in my heart and Devon is one of them. I’ve written about this gorgeous corner of the country before but this time I thought I’d share some favourite spots in Exmoor and the surrounding North Devon area in case you’re in need of some holiday inspiration a little closer to home this year.
If you’re looking for endless stretches of sand, Braunton Burrows is the place to be. It’s known as the largest sand dunes in England and when you’re trying to navigate the path to the beach you’ll definitely be aware just how big this place is!
In this part of Devon it feels like everywhere you turn you’ll find rolling countryside and open space. There’s nothing more peaceful than watching the sun go down over the fields.
Of course, Exmoor National Park is a real highlight of any trip to this part of Devon. Driving along the coast and pulling over to watch the wild horses is magic.
Hopefully this post has inspired you to get out and explore more of our beautiful coastline, I know I’m itching to plan next summer’s adventures. Do you have any trips or places that still hold fond memories? Let me know in the comments!
