Adventures in Devon

Cliff edge view of the sea

The south west of England is pretty special to me. Every summer for as long as I can remember my family have made the trek down to the coast and we’ve spent weeks wandering the moors, exploring sandy coves and eating all the good food. There’s something about the landscapes in this part of the world that make me feel very alive; the stretches of moorland where horses run free, the stormy seas and rugged cliffs that have seen all number of things. Making the trip this year was no different and has firmly cemented the idea in my mind that I would love to live and work beside the sea one day.

IMG_2087.JPGHow a place can look so beautiful even on the greyest day I’m not quite sure. We stayed in Thurlestone, a stones skim away from some incredible beaches and hidden coves. Although I love the heat and exploring different countries, there’s something about wild, empty beaches that’s really special. The endless expanse of Dartmoor is somewhere not to miss.

Devon looks its best when the sun is bouncing off the glittering sea. The huge sandy bay of Bantham Beach was by far my favourite of those we visited and I hope to return and join the mass of surfers tackling the waves one day very soon…
